Lady Tiger softball opens home schedule on Friday and Saturday with Taylor and Olivet Nazarene

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. — Lady Tiger softball opens its 2017 home schedule this weekend with a four-game series with Taylor University and Olivet Nazarene at Veterans Memorial Park.

Campbellsville (3-3) will play the Taylor Trojans (4-1) on Friday starting at 1 p.m. and the second game to follow. The Lady Tigers will then turn around and host Olivet Nazarene on Saturday starting at noon ET.

All four games will be streamed on the Campbellsville University Sports Network and links can be found above.

Campbellsville is coming off an opening weekend split in the NAIA Southeastern Challenge in Hardeeville, S.C. The Lady Tigers won their first two games last Thursday over Bryan College and Reinhardt University but lost three-straight to Thomas University, USC Beaufort and William Carey. CU ended the weekend with a 2-0 victory over Faulkner University.

Jacqueline Roof led the Lady Tigers at the plate by going 11-for-20 with a slugging percentage of .909. Roof recorded a trio of three-hit games including going 3-for-4 at the plate against No. 10 William Carey, hitting one of her two home runs and driving in two runs. Roof also homered against No. 16 Reinhardt in the Lady Tigers' 2-1 win, where she doubled and scored twice.

With her performance, Roof was named the Mid-South Conference Player of Week for the third time in her career.

In the circle, Neely Quint fell victim to a 1-2 record after pitching 15.1 innings, allowing 12 runs but only six were earned. Morgan Gailor went 2-1 and allowed only five runs but fell victim to seven walks in her first three starts of the season. Rachel Denkins also saw action in 6.2 innings, allowing five runs.

Taylor University enters the weekend after winning 2-of-3 games at Union College and a pair over IU Southeast at home. Hannah Castor is hitting an even .500 and leads the team with six RBI on the season. In addition, Abby Smith (.455) and Taylor Wilson (.429) have both started the season well for Trojans.

In the circle, Courtney Moriarty is the ace and has thrown a team-high 17 innings in three games started. Opponents are hitting .264 off Mortiarty but she has struggled with her command by allowing seven walks.

Olivet Nazarene is scheduled to play Asbury on Friday for its season opener before traveling to Veterans Memorial Park on Saturday afternoon. The Tigers finished with an overall record of 36-17-1 last season and 15-8-1 in the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference. ONU traveled to the Opening Round for the Davenport Bracket and 1-2 to end its season.
