DUBUQUE, Iowa — Cardinal Stritch hit a robust .365 tonight and the undefeated Wolves defeated Campbellsville in the Tigers' first of three out-of-conference matches at Clarke College, 25-21, 25-15 and 25-17.
CU (2-6, 2-1 MSC) could only manage but a .120 hitting percentage on 33 kills and committed 23 more errors than did the Wolves (6-0, 1-0 CCAC).
Stritch ran off a 3-0 run midway through the first set and that mini run held up for the 25-21 win.
In set two, the Wolves went on a 17-4 run after a Campbellsville timeout and stole the momentum en route to a 25-15 win.
Set three was more of the same, as Campbellsville's errors put it in a hole from which it could not escape.
Bryce Johnson and
Rafael Cruz led CU with nine and eight kills, respectively. Keeton Marshall had 24 assists and Keegan Cougil and
Noel Camello had eight and even digs, respectively.
The Tigers remain in Iowa for two more matches tomorrow: Lindenwood-Belleville at 9 a.m. and Clarke College at 11 a.m..
