CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. — The Tigers didn't have an answer for Warner's 44-22 differential in kills and a .320 hitting percentage as the Royals swept CU tonight in the Powell Athletic Center, 25-15, 25-13, 25-20.
Warner (12-4, 4-0) made a statement for first place in the conference with the win. Campbellsville drops to 7-15 overall and 5-2 MSC.
The Royals were just too tough in the first two sets, running away to big leads in both.
A 5-1 run midway through the first set gave Warner a 15-10 lead and then scored the Royals 10 of the next 15 points.
In Set 2, Warner had another 5-2 run for a 15-8 lead and again scored 10 of the next 15 points.
Campbellsville kept it close in the third set and led once at 4-3 and were within a point on nine different occasions until Warner pulled away with CU within one, 15-14.
Bryce Johnson and
Adam Conklin led CU with seven and nine kills, respectively.
Philip Turia had 22 assists and
Noel Camello led the Tigers with five digs.
The Tigers will host non-conference opponent Friday, March 10 at 7:00 when Lawrence Tech comes to the Powell Athletic Center.
