DANVILLE, Ky. – Tiger track and field completed the Centre College Invitational with nine Top 5 finishes to end the day in third place overall out of 17 teams.
Brayden Russell collected the most individual points for the Tigers, with 14 total from the triple jump and high jump. He leaped 13.14 meters in the triple jump and 1.84 meters in the high jump.
On the oval,
Bret Crawford and
Adam Sandidge ended the 1500 with a thrill, crossing the finish line with just .03 between them. Crawford finished in second place with a time of 4:05.12 and Sandidge in third with a time of 4:05.15.
Brandon Battle grabbed a second-place finish in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.28 seconds, as did
Paxton Wiley in the 110-meter high hurdles with a time of 14.95 seconds. Freshman
Tyler Lewis finished close behind in the 100-meter high hurdles with a time of 15.22 seconds for fourth place.
Finishing out the field,
Clayton Embry earned fourth place in the hammer throw with a 48.83-meter attempt.
Nick Mabe grabbed the last of the field points in the high jump with a leap of 1.79 meters for eighth place.
Three relay teams collected points for Campbellsville. Wiley, Battle,
Jordan Thomas and
Jaron Jackson ran the 4x100-meter relay in 42.98 seconds for second place. Kelvon Fields,
Keyshon Truitt, Jalen Coates and
Bradford Evans ran the same event in 44.22 for seventh. Also finishing in seventh, the 4x400 team of Truitt, Battle, Thomas and Jackson concluded the meet in 3:30.67.
Campbellsville finished the day in third place overall with 68.50 points. Other teams representing the Mid-South Conference were Lindsey Wilson College in fifth with 54 points and Georgetown College in 17
th with three.
The Tigers will be back in action next weekend, April 7-8 at the University of the Cumberlands Invitational in Williamsburg, Ky.
