IU Southeast walks off in final home game, defeating the Tigers 4-3 on Tuesday

NEW ALBANY, Ind. — Tiger baseball scratched back to even the score at three in the top of the ninth inning but Indiana University Southeast's Zach Reboulet delivered a walk off single to win over Campbellsville, 4-3.

The game-winning run came around to score after Malik Evans (4-3) allowed a leadoff hit by pitch. The Grenadiers moved the runner into scoring position with a sac bunt, Evans struck out Clay Benefield for the second out but Reboulet delivered the game-winner down the right field line.

Brett Hamilton continued his torrid pace, going 3-for-4 with a second-inning home run, ninth-inning triple, scored two runs and drove in two more. Also, Riley Joyce had two hits for CU but no other Tiger had more than one.

Nick Johnston started on the hill and pitched a solid five innings, allowing only four hits and one earned run. He gave way to the bullpen, which was made up of Dillon Day, Kirby Broadbent and Malik Evans.

Day pitched the sixth inning, allowing two runs on three hits. Broadbent pitched a perfect seventh inning but Evans allowed the game-winning RBI single by Reboulet.

The Gernadiers also used four pitchers and each tossed multiple innings. Ryne Underwood tossed the last two and earned the victory for IU Southeast.

Campbellsville will play its regular season finale on Friday, as Midway University comes to town for a pair of games. A time for first pitch has not been announced.

The scoring:
The Tigers struck first with a pair of second-inning runs after a one-out double by Carlos Garmendia got CU going. He was followed with a two-run bomb by Hamilton and CU took a 2-0 lead.

IUS answered with a run in the bottom half after a two-out double by Julian Flanary scored on a Clay Benefield single.

The Tigers had a prime opportunity to score in the sixth after a consecutive one-out walk and hit by pitch to Matthew Valdez and Romello Carbuccia. After a single by Hamilton to load the bases on NAME Cecil, he struck Garmendia and Marlor Villafana out to end the threat and leave three ducks on the pond.

Day started the sixth for CU on the hill and picked up two quick outs but three straight singles and a passed ball scored a pair of Grenadier runs to put IUS ahead for the first time, 3-2.

CU had another chance in the eighth and it started with a two-out single by Carbuccia. He advanced all the way to third base on an error but Garmendia flew out to end the threat.

In the ninth, the Tigers knotted the game at three after a leadoff triple by Hamilton. Hunter Christensen drove in the tying run with a single through the hole on the left side of the infield. CU had an opportunity to regain the lead after Diego Reynoso reached on a sac bunt fielder's choice and Riley Joyce doubled to deep left, but the top of the order in David Montoya and Clay Valenzuela-Reece were both set down to end the threat.

IUS came in clutch with the two-out RBI single by Reboulet to steal a win from the Tigers.
