WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. – Tiger track and field returned from the University of the Cumberlands Invitational with one NAIA "B" standard, three school records and nine NCCAA Championship cuts.
Brandon Wisheart led competition for the Tigers breaking a school record and earning an NAIA "B" standard in the 5,000-meter race walk. He completed the event in 25:08 for third place.
Junior
Adam Sandidge was the champion in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 15:03.17. That time was good enough to break a 12-year-old record and punch his ticket to NCCAA.
Also breaking a school record, the team of
Jaron Jackson,
Brandon Battle,
Keyshon Truitt and
Jordan Thomas ran the 4x400-meter relay in a time of 3:24.33 for second place.
Six more Tigers earned NCCAA standards on the track.
Bret Crawford ran the 1500-meter run in 4:06.35 for fourth place;
Paxton Wiley ran the 110-meter high hurdles in 15.05 for third;
Tyler Lewis ran the 110-meter high hurdles in 16.34 for eighth; Thomas ran the 400-meter run in 50.83 for fourth; Battle ran the 100-meter dash in 11.09 for sixth; and
Johannesburg Boulware ran the 400-meter hurdles in 58.99 for seventh.
Finishing out the competition for the Tigers,
Ross Allen completed the 10,000-meter run in 35:53.60 for sixth place and Wiley, Jackson, Thomas and Battle ran the 4x100-meter dash in 43.00 for third place.
In the field,
Tyler Lewis and
Nick Mabe qualified for the NCCAA Championships with seventh-place finishes. Lewis leaped 12.56 meters in the triple jump and
Nick Mabe jumped 1.84 meters in the high jump.
In the long jump, Wiley and Truitt earned seventh and eighth place jumping 6.32 meters and 6.09 meters, respectively.
Campbellsville will be back in action next Friday, Apr. 14 at the Centre College Twilight Meet.
