PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. — Campbellsville's run at the NAIA Women's Golf National Championship ended today when the Lady Tigers failed to make the 36-hole cut and finished in 20
th place out of 30 teams.
Waiting out a suspension of play on Wednesday, two delays this morning and then another lightning suspension with three teams remaining to report in, the Lady Tigers could not catch Faulkner, which finished in the final qualifying spot with a two-day total of 664.
CU shot 673 and its second-day score was seven shots (340) worse than its Round 1 total. But The Squire at PGA National showed its teeth with high winds that eventually blew in a series of rainstorms Wednesday afternoon and lightning in the area this morning forced two delays before play resumed only to have a second suspension about 11 a.m.
Sophomore
Kylie Withrow led the Lady Tigers today with an 84 (43-41) and finished in a tie for 96
th with her two-round total of 170.
Ashley Goodin finished tied for 80
th with a final-round 85 and a 167 total.
Michaela Jarman was in a tie for 91
st with rounds of 81-88 (169). Jarman's Round 2 score included nines of 43 and 45.
Anna-Marie Hyatt finished in a tie for 96
th with a two-day total of 170 (84-86).
Freshman
Kayla Rodgers moved up the leader board 12 spots to 128
th with her 85 in Round 2 and a two-day total of 178.
Originally there was to be a 54-hole cut, but weather delays forced tournament officials to scratch that and choose the top 17 teams after two rounds of play. Even though Round 2 is presently suspended, final results will not alter Campbellsville's position.
The tournament marked the end of the collegiate careers of Goodin and Hyatt, both of whom helped lead CU to its first-ever NAIA national team competition.
