The match stayed close through out the first set with eight ties during the 44 rallies and Georgetown did not lead by more the six points at any point. Campbellsville never took the lead in the first set.

Despite never surrendering the lead, Georgetown could not create separation, as its largest lead over the first 37 rallies was three points, which occurred three different times. After Georgetown took a 9-8 lead, it continued to stretch its lead to 15-11 and took its largest lead of the set at 20-14. Campbellsville staved off pair of set points, but Georgetown won its second-straight set by the score of 25-19.

The third set held the same intensity as the first two with a neither team giving an inch. Campbellsville used a 5-1 run at the beginning of the set to take its largest lead of the match at 7-4, which forced Georgetown to take their first timeout of the match.

Following the timeout, Georgetown battled back to tie the score at nine. The score was then tied seven more times over the next 14 rallies. Over those rallies, the two teams traded points with Campbellsville never retaking the lead.

Georgetown broke the seesaw battle with three-straight points to grab a 19-16 lead. Georgetown stretched its lead to four points, but a 3-0 rally from Campbellsville cut the Georgetown lead to 21-20. Georgetown was on serve at match point leading 24-21, but Campbellsville fought off two set points to pull back within a point. However, Jessica Tapp closed out the match with her 10th kill to hand Georgetown a 25-23 victory in the third set.
