No. 13 Men’s Soccer picks up 6-0 win over Georgetown in Mid-South Conference opener

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – The 13th-ranked Campbellsville men's soccer started its 2017 Mid-South Conference slate with a 6-0 victory over Georgetown College on Tuesday night at Toyota Stadium.

Ignacio Mangada and Lucas Batistela each scored two goals for Campbellsville (7-1-0, 1-0-0 MSC), while Nathan Heath scored in his fifth-straight match. Mark Callaghan was the final goal scorer in the match.

Mangada got the scoring started in the 12th minute as he converted on a chance from the top of the six-yard box after Daniel Nimmo fed him the ball for the goal.

With less than five minutes left in the first half, Mangada scored his second goal of the match and seventh of the season to put Campbellsville ahead, 2-0.

As the first 45 minutes expired, Mark Callaghan beat the halftime buzzer and notched Campbellsville's third goal of the first half.

Campbellsville controlled the possession throughout the half and fired 16 shots toward goal with five on goal, compared to two total shot from Georgetown (5-4-0, 0-1-0 MSC) with both hitting the target.

The second half had a similar start to the first, as Campbellsville scored less then 10 minutes into the period. Heath scored for the fifth-consecutive match to push his season total to five. However, for the first time all season, Heath recorded a goal that did not come off a penalty kick.

Batistela – who made his first appearance of the season – got in the scoring with two more goals to cap off the night for Campbellsville in the 80th and 88th minutes. Alvaro Marino and Struan Robb grabbed the assists on Batistela's two goals.

Andrea Nota made four saves in just under 75 minutes of the work, while Antonio Barona Bonet made one save to preserve Campbellsville's fifth shutout of the year.

With the victory, Campbellsville runs its conference unbeaten streak to 18 matches. Campbellsville has won 17 conference matches during the stretch and tied once against Lindsey Wilson College last season.

Next up, Campbellsville continues its stretch of seven-straight MSC matches next Tuesday at home against Cumberland University at 8 p.m. ET from Finley Stadium.
