COLUMBIA, Ky. – The Lady Tiger swim team finished second out of six teams at the Lindsey Wilson College Fall Frenzy at the Holloway Natatorium on Friday and Saturday.
Campbellsville compiled 722 total points and finished just behind Mars Hill University who scored 959 team points.
The Lady Tigers had a trio of 200-yard freestyle relay teams compete and the quartet of
Brooklynn Friel,
Gabrielle Velez,
Jen Lewis and
Lauren Sears were the top team for Campbellsville with a mark of 1:49.90 and finished sixth overall.
Olivia Schneider and
Faith Hyde finished back-to-back in the 500-yard freestyle with times of 6:07.17 and 6:11.31.
Lauren Sears posted a third-place finish in the 200-yard individual medley after completing the race in 2:21.14. Velez also finished in the top 10 and was eighth overall.
In the 50-yard freestyle, Sears was 10th in the field of 35 swimmers after swimming in 27.15, followed by Friel in 11th after recording a time of 27.23.
Campbellsville notched its first top-five relay finish in the 400-yard medley relay after
Lauren Dalton, Velez, Friel and Sears finished with a time of 4:24.49, which was fourth in the field. The same quartet also finished fourth overall in the 200-yard medley relay.
Dalton continued her strong meet with a third-place finish in the 400-yard individual medley with a time of 5:07.63. Friel and
Katy Lewis finished inside the top 10 of the 100-yard butterfly where Friel swam a 1:04.44 and
Katy Lewis notched a mark of 1:06.18.
Sears recorded another top-10 finish at the frenzy with a 2:10.90 in the 200-yard freestyle to place sixth.
Dalton led the Lady Tigers through out the meet with two more top-five finishes to close out the event, including a victory in the 200-yard backstroke where she notched a time of 2:17.33 – which was over three seconds faster than the second-place finisher.
Friel and
Jen Lewis finished third and fifth in the 200-yard breaststroke, while Friel was second overall in the 200-yard butterfly.
The last top-five finish of the meet of the Lady Tigers came in the 400-yard freestyle, where Friel, Velez, Sears and Dalton recorded a fifth-place time of 4:02.08.
Campbellsville was also the top finishing Mid-South Conference team at the event and beat out Lindsey Wilson, Bethel University and Life University.
Next up for the Lady Tigers is a dual meet against Life in Marietta, Georgia on Oct. 14.
