CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. — In the final non-conference tune up of the regular season, No. 3 Lady Tiger basketball earned a 68-44 win over Stillman College on Tuesday night in the Powell Athletic Center.
Campbellsville improves to 14-2 overall and will now host rival Georgetown College on Saturday afternoon that features the first Mid-South Conference doubleheader of the season.
Tonight, though, CU shot a better percentage from the 3-point line (34%) than it did from the field (33%). The Lady Tigers splashed 10 triples – matching a season-high set against Central Methodist in November.
Lexxus Graham led the way with three Edward Jones triples and scored a team-high 11 points along with
Jordan Doram.
Madison Clements and
Cristin Hall also made a pair of 3s, while Clements pitched in nine points and Hall finished with six. Clements is now 11 points away from becoming the 34
th Lady Tiger to score 1,000 career points.
Campbellsville forced its sixth 30-plus turnover game as Stillman finished with 34 miscues that led to 42 of the 68 CU points. In the decisive second quarter, Stillman turned the ball over on nine straight possessions and the Lady Tigers ended the half on an 11-0 run.
Madison Kaiser and
Caitlin Hall both drilled 3s, while
Shyla Calbert scored seven points in the final 2:30 to put CU ahead by 19 at halftime, 46-27.
The third quarter wasn't as pretty as CU matched its season-low of nine points in the frame. Stillman out-scored the Lady Tigers in the third period, 11-9, but the deficit was too large for the visitors to make any comeback.
In the fourth quarter, CU held Stillman to a season-low six points but the Lady Tigers finished just hitting 6-of-33 overall in the final 20 minutes of play – four of those coming from 3-point land.
Campbellsville will now have four days to prepare for rival Georgetown travels to Tiger Town on Saturday afternoon. Admission is free for all under the age of 18 years old.
