Clements etches name in Lady Tiger record book, as CU routs Georgetown in MSC opener

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. — The third-ranked Campbellsville Lady Tigers started Mid-South Conference with a bang on Saturday, routing rival Georgetown College, 81-54.

Madison Clements stole the show as she became the 34th Lady Tiger to surpass 1,000 career points. The redshirt senior from Clementsville, Tenn. was 11 points shy of the mark entering today but pitched in her first career double-double with 19 points and 10 rebounds, while also dishing out five assists.

Clements was joined by Jordan Doram, Madison Kaiser and Madison Faulkner in double-figure scoring, while those four combined to total 64 of the 81 Lady Tiger points.

The win improves Campbellsville's mark to 15-2 overall, while Georgetown falls to 6-10. The Lady Tigers get back in action next week with a pair of MSC road contests, as they travel to University of the Cumberlands on Thursday, Jan. 11 and Life University on Saturday, Jan. 13.

Today, even though Clements stole the show, Doram and Kaiser sparked the Lady Tigers when they needed it. Doram finished with 17 points on 7-of-11 shooting and grabbed seven boards, while Kaiser had the hot-hand all afternoon and scored a career-high 16.

On the defensive end Campbellsville forced 17 turnovers and scored 17 off those miscues.

With 6:41 left in the second quarter, the Lady Tigers took a 10-point lead and never looked back. Faulkner led the charge as she started an eight-point run to end the second frame. Campbellsville held Georgetown scoreless in the last two minutes to establish a 20-point lead heading into the half, 43-23.

The third quarter rang a similar tune as the Lady Tigers went on 17-3 run to end the frame. Clements started the run with 6:23 on the clock and it was all Campbellsville for the next five minutes as it extended the lead to 64-29. The Lady Tigers ended the third with a 32-point lead, 64-32.

The fourth quarter was the icing on the cake as coach Ginger Colvin was able to play her second and third teams the majority of the final 10 minutes.

Campbellsville finished hitting 45 percent (31-of-69) from the floor and held Georgetown to 32 percent (19-of-60). Off those 31 made baskets, 23 of them came off an assist, as Lauren Turner and Faulkner delivered four – behind Clements' team-high five. The Lady Tigers did struggle from the free throw line with their lowest percentage all year, hitting 56 percent (14-of-25).
