Bass Fishing had four boats in field at AFTCO Collegiate Bass Open

Russellville, Ark. — It was a tough start to the AFTCO Collegiate Bass Open as Campbellsville University bass fishing has four boats in the field in 86thplace or worse at Lake Dardanelle.
 
Justin Mayfield and Trevor Sagrecy lead the way in 86th place after catching a five-fish limit of 7.39 lbs. but trail the leaders by over eight pounds. Rogers State University's Ty Crutchfield and Alec Murphy leads the way after a big bag of 15.99 lbs. 
 
In 145th place, Adam Carman and Grant Adams caught two fish for 3.74 lbs. Nick Ratliff and Dakota Cantrell are in 151st after reeling in two fish for 3.71 lbs. but a ½ pound dead fish penalty push them back to 3.21 lbs. 
 
Rounding out the Tigers was Mason Sapp and Colby Hays in 163rd with one fish for 1.93 lbs. 
 
Two NAIA programs are sitting in the Top 5. Behind Arkansas Tech in second place, Bryan College sits in third with 15.10 lbs. and had a big fish of 4.46 lbs. In fourth place is Carson-Newman and in fifth place is Bethel University with 13.56 lbs. 
 
The big fish of the day came from Louisiana State University – Baton Rouge's Heath Pinell of 6.59 lbs. 
 
Round two of the AFTCO Collegiate Bass Open begins on Lake Dardanelle on Saturday morning.
