CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – CU women's volleyball earned their fifth-straight win Tuesday night as they swept University of the Cumberlands.
The Lady Tigers won the first two sets by eight or more points and narrowly earned the win in the third set for each sets score to be 25-15, 25-17 and 25-23.
Campbellsville attacked well on the night, hitting .205 as a team with
Maria Coelho leading the team in kills with 11 and
Yelysaveta Sharkova leading the Lady Tigers with a .538 hitting percentage (8-for-13). Sharkova, Katie Johnson and
Sonia Flendrich all had eight kills behind Coelho's 11 to tie for second on the team for the match.
CU was excellent on the serve in the match, earning 12 service aces in the three sets with
Ashlyn Flock earning five of the aces herself. Along with the aces, the Lady Tigers avoided errors on the serve and errors on the attack, combining for only 23 total errors on the day.
Campbellsville maintains their third spot in the Mid-South Conference standings with their 7-2 record, just a half game behind Georgetown. The Lady Tigers will continue to close out their conference schedule with five-straight MSC matches continuing on Saturday at Life University.
