Cumberland out-paces Tigers with two goals in each half on Sunday afternoon

LEBANON, Tenn. — Cumberland University scored two goals in each period to out-run Tiger soccer on Sunday afternoon, 4-0. 
 
The Tigers (4-6, 1-2 MSC) were only able to muster five shots on Sunday afternoon with two of them on goal. 
 
Cumberland improves to 3-4-2 overall and 2-0 inside conference play. 
 
The Phoenix scored twice in each half as Martin Walsh had one goal in the first and second periods. The scoring started in the 14thas Daniel Williams scored his third goal of the year after an assist by Bakary Bagayoko. 
 
Just 70 seconds later, the Phoneix took a 2-0 lead as Walsh scored his first goal as Williams recorded the assist. 
 
The second period saw goals in a flurry as well. Walsh put the Phoenix up 3-0 just two minutes into the half and Bagayoko finished the scoring in the 53rdon an open net after Williams passed just past Campbellsville's goalkeeper Owen Stott
 
The Tigers did have to play the final 25 minutes down a player as Marco Minisini earned a red card in the 66thminute. 
 
Overall, Cumberland out-shot Campbellsville 18-5 with eight of its shot on goal. 
 
Campbellsville now gets back on the pitch next week as Life University comes to town on Saturday, Oct. 13. Kickoff is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET at Finley Stadium.
