Sapp and Welty lead Campbellsville bass fishing at University of Louisville Open

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Campbellsville University bass fishing had a stellar start to its 2018-19 season as four boats came out with prize money at the University of Louisville Open on Nolin River Lake. 
 
The Tigers were led by Mason Sapp and Wyatt Welty's first-place finish, while Adam Carman and Payton Cox placed third. Carman reeled in the big fish of the tournament as well. 
 
In fifth place, Campbellsville's Colby Hays and Will Rigdon, while Grant Adams and Jordan Smallwood both rounded out the Tigers in sixth. 
 
Overall, Campbellsville sent 11 teams with a total of 30 boats in the field. The Tigers had four of the Top 6 boats in the tournament. 
 
The Tigers will now have this week to prepare for the ACA Cabela's Collegiate Classic on Lake Dardanelle in Russellville, Arkansas. The two-day tournament begins on Friday, Oct. 12 and finished on Saturday, Oct. 13.
