Lady Tigers improve Conference Challenge record to 7-0 after 97-67 win over Mobile

NEW ORLEANS — A big offensive day led Lady Tiger basketball to a 2-0 record this weekend at the Mid-South Conference and Southern States Challenge. No. 3 Campbellsville took down University of Mobile, 97-67, to improve to 4-0 on the year.

Campbellsville lit a fire to the nets by hitting 52 percent (33-of-63) from the floor and was 25-of-29 from the free throw line for 86 percent.

The whistle was a big factor in the day as 52 fouls were called and a combined 71 free throws were attempted. Mobile finished hitting 30-of-42 from the stripe.

Turnovers were another big number as both teams had 28 miscues. The 28 for Campbellsville is a season-high in the young season.

Madison Faulkner led the Lady Tigers once again with 15 points, while four others scored in double figures. Jordan Doram, who fouled out for the third time this season, pitched in 13 along with Savannah Gregory. Madison Stewart and Sammy Rogers had 11 and 10 points, respectively.

Passing was a big number as well, as CU had twice as many assists than the Rams with 16. Caitlin Hall led the way individually with four.

That's where we start as the passing was on point early. Alexus Calhoun hit Madison Faulkner for a bucket at the 3:10 mark to push CU ahead, 15-11, but Mobile was able to hang around, 19-16.

The second quarter was the difference marker, though. CU out-scored the Rams 27-12 overall in the second frame and pushes its scoring output to 106-58 against opponents this season – which is the most scored by the Lady Tigers.

The passing continued in the second quarter as the ball moved from Faulkner to Kaiser to Rogers to start a 10-2 run in the frame. That extended to 21-5 to force Mobile into a timeout with 2:54 left and the Lady Tigers pushing their largest lead at that point to 19, 40-21. During that run, Campbellsville was 6-of-8 from the floor and hit 9-of-13 free throws.

Leading 46-28 at halftime, the Lady Tigers cruised the rest of the way. All 14 players that were dressed saw action and 13 of them scored. Ashlee McGeorge didn't attempt a field goal but hauled in three rebounds in the win. The bench scored 43 of the 97 points and 30 of them came in the paint.

Over the last three seasons, Campbellsville has a perfect 7-0 record in the Conference Challenge.

With the victory, Campbellsville improves to 4-0 and will have another lengthy break before its next game. The Lady Tigers host Davis and Elkins on Saturday, Nov. 17 with tipoff at 1 p.m. ET in the Powell Athletic Center.
