Batistela's two goals leads Campbellsville past Georgetown in MSC quarterfinals

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. — Campbellsville's Lucas Batistela scored two first-half goals and Georgetown College could not recover as the Tigers rolled in the Mid-South Conference quarterfinal, 4-1.

The Tigers (10-6, 5-2 MSC) dominated the pitch with 24 shots and half of them on goal (12). Campbellsville held Georgetown to just two shots – both on goal and ended the GC season with a 9-10 record.

Batistela got the scoring going in the 20thminutes as Nathaniel Fonda slipped a pass to him for their fourth goal and first assist of the season, respectively.

In the 25thminute, Marc Lawrence found Batistela for the second goal – where it would stand at halftime, 2-0.

Georgetown answered in the 67thminute as the Tigers' defense attempted a header back to Owen Stott in goal to keep possession but Noel Roman beat Stott to the ball and finished to cut the lead in half, 2-1.

But that deficit would go back to a multi-score lead in the 74th. Fonda found Azad Iliozer for his second assist of the year and Iliozer's second score.

Just a little over four minutes later, Iliozer was on the front-end of another Tiger goal. He hit Rafael Murube for his fourth goal of the season.

With the victory, Campbellsville's season is extended to the Mid-South Conference semifinal. The Tigers will play No. 2-seeded Lindsey Wilson on Thursday, Nov. 8 at 7:30 p.m. ET at Bowling Green High School.
