Hall's career-high 13 assists lead Lady Tigers past Martin Methodist, 91-75

JACKSON, Tenn. — Junior point guard Caitlin Hall dished out a career-high 13 assists and Savannah Gregory was one-point shy of matching a career-high in Campbellsville's 91-75 win over Martin Methodist College.

The third-ranked Lady Tigers split their record at the NAIA Invitational once again – the same result the last two seasons as well. CU boasts a 3-3 record at Oman Arena in the Classic and now improve to 6-1 on the year, while Martin Methodist falls to 4-3.

On the 33 made field goals, the Lady Tigers had 26 assists but half of those came from the passing queen Caitlin Hall. Gregory had four and Lexy Lake had three – which is a career-high for the freshman.

Lake also pitched in nine points – all from behind the 3-point line - to spark the Lady Tigers in both halves.

Gregory started with a 3-pointer at the 6:33 mark in the opening quarter but the Lady Tigers started cold just like on Friday night. With Martin Methodist leading 16-8 at the 2:00 mark, Lake banged her first 3-pointer of the day. Then sophomore guard Shyla Calbert dished out a pair of assists to Jordan Doram and Alexus Calhoun to push the score to 15-all.

Lake gave Campbellsville a 26-23 lead with 7:35 remaining in the second quarter and then Big Fella Jordan Doram capitalized on an old-fashioned 3-point play with 5:59 left to put CU ahead, 31-29.

Just a few minutes later, it was the sophomore southpaw Sammy Rogers getting in on the fun with an and-one opportunity and hit the freebie. CU finished 17-of-26 (65 percent) from the free throw line.

After a Madison Stewart jumper to put CU ahead by four, 36-32, Martin Methodist answered right back. Faith Sherrow hit her lone 3-pointer to cap an 8-0 run and give the RedHawks the lead right back, 38-36.

Then it was one of the splash sisters, Madison Kaiser, saying not so fast. Kaiser nailed one of her two 3-pointer with 45 seconds left to give CU the lead right back, 43-42 – a lead that CU wouldn't give back.

Just before the half, Gregory was fouled as time expired and hit a pair of free throws to put the Lady Tigers ahead, 45-42, at the break.

The second half started similar to how the first ended – a Kaiser triple. Martin Methodist cut the lead to one, 45-44, but Stewart and Gregory both made jumpers and Kaiser drilled her last 3 with 7:43 left for a 7-0 Campbellsville run.

To end the third quarter, Lexy Lake nailed her third 3-pointer to put CU ahead, 67-56.

With 6:24 left, Hall had a triple rattle in and Sammy Rogers scored four straight points to put CU ahead by 18 points, 79-61.

At the 3:30 mark, Hall found Stewart for her 13thassist as the Lady Tigers continued to roll after that.

Campbellsville took advantage with its depth tonight and also hit the offensive glass with 13 offensive boards. The Lady Tigers also out-scored Martin Methodist in second chance scoring, 15-3.

CU now has a lengthy break before hosting the University of Virgin Islands on Tuesday and Wednesday, Dec. 4-5.
