FIREWORKS IN KISSIMMEE! Troy Walters wins it for the Tigers in the 103rd over Warner

KISSIMMEE, Fla. — Lucas Batistela won a 50-50 ball in the 103rdminute and found teammate Troy Walters across the box and he finished past the keeper to hand Campbellsville men's soccer a thrilling double overtime win over Warner University, 2-1.

The Golden Goal victory is the first for the Tigers (12-7) this year and the first overtime match CU has faced.

The Tigers led for 60+ minutes of the match after Rafael Murube scored his fifth goal of the year off a Walters' assist in the 30thminute.

That's where the score would stay until 70 clicks remained in regulation. Warner's James Feeham served a beautiful cross into the box and Matheus Santiago headed it in to put awestruck shock into the faces of the Campbellsville side.

But coach Adam Preston and company rallied their troops and didn't let a little adversity snag on for long. In the 95thminute, Batistela made a long run and crossed a ball just outside the 6-yard box before Warner cleared it away.

The fireworks happened in the 103rdminute, though. Walters scored his team-leading ninth goals of the year and Batistela, who played one of his better games as a Tigers, tallied his second assist to begin the mud sliding in front of the Campbellsville bench.

Owen Stott was solid all night, tallying seven saves. The Tigers out-shot Warner, 20-13, but only seven were on frame compared to eight for the Royals.

With the win, the Tigers are now 1-0 inside Pool Play and will have a day of rest before squaring off with four-seeded Bethel College in their final group match. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET on Wednesday, Nov. 28 at Austin-Tindall Soccer Complex.

Campbellsville joined Southwestern Christian and Grace College as the winners on Day 1. Bethel College faces Warner tomorrow night for the Pilots' first match of the championship. Warner falls on the season to 12-6-1 and 0-1 inside Pool Play.

Up-to-date information will be posted on the CU Tournament Page later on Monday evening.
