No. 4 Lady Tigers go 3-1 at Patriot Duals; fall to Emmanuel College in finale

WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. — Alexandra Castillo, the third-ranked grappler at 191lbs., led the Lady Tigers with a 4-0 record as Campbellsville went 3-1 at the University of the Cumberlands Patriots Duals on Saturday.

Campbellsville (3-2, 2-1 MSC) started the day with a 44-3 domination over No. 16 Lindenwood-Belleville to earn its first Mid-South Conference win of the year, before earning a revenge win over No. 7 University of the Cumberlands, 27-18. The final two duals of the day were a 26-20 win over No. 5 Life University and a conference loss to Emmanuel College, 29-15.

Castillo led the Lady Tigers with a 4-0 record as she pinned Yalitza Ramos in just 33 seconds to close out the dual against Emmanuel. Against Cumberlands, Castillo defeated No. 6 Jesse Kirby, 9-2.

In the final two matches of her tournament, Castillo won a close bout over fourth-ranked Stephanie Pantoja of Life University, 3-2, and took down Mia Leon with a pin in 38 seconds.

CU also had a pair of Lady Tigers go 3-1 on the day – Nos. 1 McKayla Campbell and Andribeth Rivera.

Campbell pinned two opponents and earned a tech-fall in the other. Angelique Terrores-Cruz was pinned in 2:09 to start Campbell's day and kickoff the Lady Tigers win over Lindenwood-Belleville. In her second match against Cumberlands, she pinned Jessica Rodriguez in 4:16, and in her third she earned a tech over 10^th-ranked Tyesha Topps of Life University.

Unranked Maria Vidales took down Campbell with a 10-0 tech fall in the final match of the day.

Rivera, ranked No. 1 at 130lbs., also earned two pins and a tech fall before Abigail Nette earned an 18-7 tech in the final bout.

The Lady Tigers have a week to prepare for another Mid-South Conference dual and the home opener vs. Life University on Saturday, Dec. 8 at 4 p.m.
