Free throws by all three seniors seals victory and No. 2-seed over Lindsey Wilson, 71-68

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – Campbellsville secured a No. 2-seed in the upcoming Mid-South Conference with its 71-68 Senior Day victory over Lindsey Wilson College on Saturday afternoon.  
 
Today's Senior Day Battle of Highway 55 saw 15 lead changes and free throws by each senior  – Lauren Turner, Lexxus Graham and Madison Clements – in the final 17 seconds to seal the victory.
 
Jordan Doram led the Lady Tigers (26-4, 12-2 MSC) with 18 points. Madison Stewart also collected double digit points ending with 10. Madison Faulkner continues to be a force for the Lady Tigers scoring eight and grabbing a team high 10 rebounds.
 
The Blue Raiders (24-6, 10-4 MSC) outscored Campbellsville in the first and third periods of play, as well as outshooting them for the entire first half.
 
The win gives CU the No. 2-seed in the upcoming Mid-South Conference Tournament and the Lady Tigers will play seven-seed Georgetown College on Thursday, March 1 at the Eastern Kentucky Expo Center in Pikeville, Ky.
 
After being outscored 17-16 in the first period of play, the Lady Tigers regrouped for the second quarter to outscore the Blue Raiders 17-13 and secure a 33-30 lead heading into the half. Even though holding an advantage at halftime, CU hit just 33% (14-43), compared to the Blue Raiders 50% (10-20).
 
The difference maker was a scoring drought by Lindsey Wilson to end the half. With 4:52 left, Lindsey Wilson's Kayla Styles nailed a jumper to put the Blue Raiders in the lead, 26-24. LWC didn't score again in the quarter.
 
The third quarter saw five lead changes, as neither team went ahead by more than three points. Lindsey Wilson's Heidi Huffman kept the Blue Raiders close by nailing six 3-pointers and finished with 16 points.
 
Trailing by three, 42-39, Doram earned an old-fashioned 3-point play knotting the score at 42. The Lady Tigers led 44-42 after Clements picked up an offensive rebound to and scored two of her eight points.
 
Huffman and Reagan Turner both capitalized with three free throws to give the lead back to Lindsey Wilson, 45-44. Another Doram layup put CU back ahead but Reagan Turner hit another free throw to tie it at 45-all ending the quarter.
 
The Lady Tigers came out strong as Caitlin Hall and Jordan Doram scored back to back layups to go ahead by four. CU later went ahead by five after Savannah Gregory score one of her eight points with a free throw at the 5:09 mark.
 
Huffman brought the Blue Raiders right back, though. She nailed a 3 to kick-start a 6-1 run and LWC was able to knot it back up at 59-all. Lindsey Wilson ended up leading by one, 60-59, but Doram put CU ahead for good at the 2:40 mark.
 
In the final minute, the Lady Tigers were able to capitalize on free throws to ice the game. Lauren Turner hit a pair with 17 seconds left on the clock. Lexxus Graham and Madison Clements both made 1-of-2 to seal it on Senior Day.
 
CU finished hitting 13-of-21 from the free throw line but Lindsey Wilson struggling by hitting only 19-of-31 (61%).
 
Kayla Styles led all scoring with 26 points and 10 boards. Heidi Huffman also pitched in with 16 points, all coming from beyond the arch.
 
More information will be released on Sunday afternoon with brackets and game times for the Mid-South Conference Tournament.
