KINGSPORT, Tenn. – Campbellsville's women's swimming team compiled a three-day total of 127 points to finish seventh at the Mid-South Conference Championships in the Kingsport Aquatics Center.
University of the Cumberlands won their fourth-straight conference title after compiling 519 points over the three days.
In the 1,650-yard freestyle, the trio of
Jen Lewis,
Kate Bouldin and
Faith Hyde finished consecutively in fourth, fifth and sixth in their heat. Lewis paced the Lady Tigers with a time of 20:37.27, followed by Bouldin's 20:52.18 and Hyde's 21:08.12. The trio rounded out the event in 10th, 11th and 12th, respectively.
The 200-yard backstroke featured Hyde and
Chelsie VanWhy just missing out on the top 12 in the event as they placed 13th and 14th – the last two spots outside of the B finals. Hyde completed the race in 2:27.51 and VanWhy notched a time of 2:31.41.
Despite not finishing inside the top 12 of the 200-yard backstroke, Hyde was an alternate for the B final and she finished 10th overall in the race with a time of 2:23.11.
Irune Capri,
Olivia Schneider and
Autumn Turner competed in the 100-yard freestyle during the morning session on Saturday. Capri placed 15th with a time of 1:01.09 and Schneider was just behind in a time of 1:03.21. Turner capped off the Campbellsville swimmers in the field with a time of 1:09.57.
Lewis qualified for the B finals is the 200-yard breaststroke, where her time of 2:42.16 placed 10th in the field.
Morgan Bryant and
Lexie Upton finished back-to-back in the event with times of 2:52.08 and 2:52.41 – just missing out on qualifying for the final heats.
In the consolation finals of the breaststroke, Lewis finished in 11th overall with a time of 2:44.51.
The Lady Tigers had three individuals qualify for the consolation finals in the 200-yard butterfly.
Brooklynn Friel was eighth to lead the trio with time of 2:22.17 and hitting the national bonus standard.
Katy Lewis finished 10th after touching the wall in 2:27.28, while
Lindsey Buckman grabbed the last qualifying spot with a time of 2:39.71.
Friel finished second in the B finals of the 200-yard butterfly and placed eighth overall with a time of 2:20.79 to improve on her bonus cut.
Katy Lewis finished 11th in the event with a 2:32.75 and Buckman was six seconds behind in 12th place.
To cap off the conference meet, the team of
Jen Lewis,
Katy Lewis, VanWhy and Friel finished seventh in the 400-yard freestyle relay with a time of 4:02.19. The Lady Tiger quartet captured 14 points for Campbellsville.
Campbellsville now heads to Columbus, Georgia for the NAIA National Championships starting on Wednesday, Feb. 28.
