Lady Tiger basketball hosts long-time rival University of the Cumberlands on Saturday

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. — Lady Tiger basketball is looking for the season sweep over University of the Cumberlands, as the Patriots enter the Powell Athletic Center on Saturday afternoon.
 
Tipoff of the doubleheader with the Tigers and Patriots is scheduled for 2 p.m. ET. The Voice of Tiger Basketball Matt Payton will have the call on the CU Sports Network, 88.7 The Tiger and WLCU-TV, starting at 1:45. Fans can also follow online at www.campbellsvilletigers.com/watch.
 
Campbellsville enters with a four-game winning streak after knocking off conference foes Lindsey Wilson, Cumberland University and Georgetown in the last two weeks. CU also rolled past Life University on Thursday night, 95-61.
 
The Lady Tigers, who sit in second in the MSC with an 8-1 record, won three of the last four games without leading scorer and 2016-17 First-Team All-Conference performer Madison Clements. She's missed the last few games with an ankle injury but came back on Thursday night vs. Life to play 10 minutes and scored seven points.
 
University of the Cumberlands enters Saturday with a 15-8 record and is tied for fifth in the conference with a 3-6 record. The Patriots are led by Cheyenne Madden in the post, averaging 17 points per game – which is second in the MSC behind Lindsey Wilson's Kayla Styles' 22ppg.
 
Madden is also third in the MSC in rebounds by grabbing 8.2 per contest.
 
Jordan Doram, who will match up with Madden on Saturday, has been stellar for CU lately. The junior forward from Georgetown, Ky. scored 16 points vs. Shawnee State, 15 vs. Cumberland University and backed that up with a season-high 18 vs. Life earlier this week.
 
A look at the Mid-South Conference
  • No. 2 Shawnee State enters the week with a perfect 9-0 conference record and is tied with Campbellsville with the second-most wins in the country at 22-3.
  • Campbellsville's lone loss in conference play came to Shawnee State and the Lady Tigers are second in the standings at 8-1.
  • Lindsey Wilson is three games ahead of Cumberland University at 7-2, while the Phoenix are 4-5.
  • University of Pikeville and University of the Cumberlands are both tied for fifth at 3-6.
  • Life and Georgetown are both tied for seventh in the MSC with matching 1-8 records.
 
Series Facts vs. Cumberlands
  • CU and UC are meeting for the 105th time in program history. CU leads the series 69-36.
  • CU won the first-ever meeting between the two in the 1976-77 season, 56-47.
  • UC upset CU last season in the opening round of the MSC Tournament - the fourth time in five games UC has beaten CU in postseason.
  • Coach Ginger Colvin has a 16-9 record versus coach Melissa Irvin and Cumberlands.
  • Colvin is also 9-1 while playing Cumberlands in The Powell Center.
  • The last win for Cumberlands in The Powell Center came on Feb. 25, 2012, winning 72-59.

  • With the 82-63 win over Cumberland on Saturday, Jan. 27, the Lady Tigers have reached the 20-win milestone for the 10th time in Ginger Colvin's 11 years as head coach.
  • The 22 wins is also tied for the second-most in the NAIA. Shawnee State also has 22 wins, while LSU- Shreveport has 24.
  • Leading scorer Madison Clements missed three-straight games with an ankle sprain but returned on Thursday vs. Life and scored seven points in 10 minutes of play.
  • In true road games this season, CU is 7-0.
  • While playing at home, CU is 8-1. Its lone loss came to Shawnee State.
  • The Lady Tigers have won four-straight MSC games.
  • The Lady Tigers' loss to Shawnee State in January continued the streak of only having one loss in that month for the last seven years.
