CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – The Tigers rounded out their three-game series against Kentucky Christian University with a 10-0 victory on Friday afternoon from HIG Field.
Campbellsville outscored the Knights (0-15) 41-1 over the three games at HIG Field this week. In a five-game in three-day stretch, the Tigers (16-8) picked up five wins and outscored the opposition, 50-4, during the stretch.
Ty Housden went a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate on Friday, while driving in two runs and scoring a pair of runs. Housden was all walked once during the run-shortened, seven-inning game.
Campbellsville scored three runs in the first inning on four hits. Three-straight doubles to start the inning scored two runs for the Tigers with
Tyson Solis driving in
Matthew Valdez and then Solis scored a double from Housden. After back-to-back fly outs,
DePaul Blunt singled up the middle to score Housden and cap off the scoring threat for Campbellsville.
On just one hit and an error, the Tigers grabbed a 5-0 lead in the second inning.
Brandon Douglas reached on an error to start the inning and then Valdez drove in
Chris Taitague – who pinch ran for Douglas – with Valdez's second double in as many innings. Valdez then came into score on a wild pitch.
After being held scoreless in the third and fourth innings, Blunt drove home
Bryson Wallet – who reached on a dropped fly ball to right field – as the Tigers ran their lead to 6-0 in the fifth inning.
Logan Roberts belted his third home run in three days to score two runs in the sixth inning. The Tigers needed just two more runs to end the game via run rule heading into the seventh inning. Without recording a hit,
David Montoya scored to make the 9-0 in favor of Campbellsville and the lone hit in the inning came from Housden to cap of his perfect day at the plate with a single to centerfield scoring
Jalen Horton and ending the game in the seventh inning with a 10-0 victory for the Tigers.
Campbellsville had five pitchers appear in the game. Over the seven innings, the Tiger pitching staff allowed just three hits and two walks.
Nick Johnston (3-0) allowed one hit in two innings, while striking out three hitters. After allowing a leadoff walk in the third inning,
Dillon Day rebounded with three-straight strikeouts in his lone inning of work.
Brian Robertson threw a perfect fourth inning, while
Noah Horton allowed just two hits in his fifth-inning appearance.
Marco Murillo pitched the final two innings going three-up and three-down in the sixth and seventh innings, which included three strikeouts.
Brandon Clark (0-1) threw six innings and allowed eight runs – five earned – on nine hits in the loss. Brock Damron threw the final 2/3 of an inning allowing two runs on a hit.
Campbellsville rounds out its six-game homestand on Wednesday afternoon at 3 p.m. ET against Indiana University-Southeast.
