Lady Tigers seek hat trick over Lindsey Wilson; rivals meet in MSC Semifinal on Saturday

PIKEVILLE, Ky. — Lady Tiger basketball is seeking the season hat trick over Lindsey Wilson College and will face the three-seeded Blue Raiders in the Mid-South Conference Semifinal on Saturday afternoon.
 
Tipoff in the MSC semifinal is scheduled for 12 p.m. ET in the East Ky. Expo Center. Matt Payton will have the radio call starting at 11:45 a.m. ET on the CU Sports Network – 88.7 The Tiger and CampbellsvilleTigers.com/watch.
 
Two-seeded and third-ranked Campbellsville (27-4) won its first Mid-South Conference Tournament game with ease over Georgetown, 85-64.
 
Lindsey Wilson (25-6) had a little more trouble against University of the Cumberlands but the Blue Raiders used a strong fourth quarter to win 74-57.
 
With both squads advancing into the MSC semifinal round, they are meeting for the fifth time in the tournament. The Lady Tigers hold a 3-1 record against the Blue Raiders in the tourney, with the last meeting in 2016, a 60-56 CU win in the semifinals. The Lady Tigers have won two in a row against LWC and haven't won three straight in the series since winning 11-straight from 2010-2014.
 
Lindsey Wilson brings in the MSC Player of the Year, as Kayla Styles is a force averaging 23.3 points per game. In addition, the Blue Raiders have the Freshman of the Year, Reagan Turner, and the Defender of the Year, Gerda Paulauskaite.

  • Campbellsville and Lindsey Wilson are meeting for the 75th time in program history. The Lady Tigers lead the series, 54-20.
  • During the Colvin era, the Lady Tigers have faced Lindsey Wilson three times in the Mid-South Conference Tournament. The last meeting came in the MSC semifinal in 2016 with CU winning 60-56.
  • Overall, the two have only met five times in the MSC Tournament. Lindsey Wilson's lone win came in 2008, 75-68, in the semifinals.
  • On Jan.22, 1990, CU shot 73 percent from behind the 3-point line against LWC - this is still a season- game record for CU.
  • Since the 2009-10 season, Campbellsville has won 16 of the 20 games in the series.

  • Head Coach Ginger Colvin picked up her 300th win in her career on Thursday night vs. Georgetown.

  • She ranks in the Top 14 of the active head coaches in the NAIA with a 300-76 career record and Campbellsville ranks No. 4 with 961 program wins.
  • Colvin has recorded 20-win seasons in all but her first year (2007-08) and has four 30-win seasons on her resume.
