CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – With the regular season winding down, Campbellsville's baseball team has a pair of games in the midweek as it travels to Brescia University on Tuesday and then hosts Tennessee Wesleyan University on Wednesday.
The Tigers come into the week with a record of 27-12 overall after picking up two wins on the road against Cumberland University. Campbellsville took the first game of the road doubleheader against the Phoenix, 17-6, and then took game two, 5-3, to complete the doubleheader and series sweep.
Logan Roberts continues his strong stretch at the plate after hitting over .500 for the second-straight week. He hit .526 at the plate and slugged 1.211. Roberts recorded a hit in all five games and had four multi-hit contests. He hit four home runs to move his season total 12, which is the most the in program history since 2009.
Roberts also leads the way with a .382 batting average and 34 RBIs, while slugging a team-best .755 to guide the Tigers.
Ty Housden is second on the team with a .364 batting average, while
Chris Taitague posted a .600 batting average last week to move his average to .350. Taitague went 6-for-10 at the plate, while driving in seven runs for Campbellsville.
On the mound, the Tigers have 3.75 ERA and have allowed the opposition to hit .230 at the plate this season.
Parker Loutensock leads the Campbellsville starters with a 2.25 ERA this season, while recording a 4-0 record.
Tyler Deason has a team-best five wins (5-1) to go along with a 2.72 ERA.
DJ Wilson anchors the backend of the Tiger bullpen with a record of 2-1 and seven saves. Wilson has allowed just one unearned run all season, while allowing just six hits and striking out 18 batters.
Brescia takes a short break from the road to host the Tigers as the Bearcats are in the middle of a stretch where nine of 10 games are set to played on the road. Brescia is 10-27 this season and has lost three of its last four games, but beat Asbury University, 12-10, to avoid a three-game sweep.
The Bearcats are hitting .252 as team with Alex Flock posting a team-best .398 batting average. He also leads the team in hits (51), doubles (11), home runs (5) and is tied for the team lead in triples (5) and RBIs (25). On the mound, Brescia has an ERA of 6.33 with Hunter Kloke recording a team-best 2.62 ERA with a 2-7 record and a save.
Tennessee Wesleyan has won 10 of its last 11 games, while winning three-straight coming into the week. The Bulldogs swept Truett McConnell University, outscoring the Bears, 64-11, over the three-game sweep. Tennessee Wesleyan will end its nine-game homestand with the game at HIG Field on Wednesday.
With a 27-17 record, the Bulldogs are hitting .287 on the season with Aloysius Cruz posting a .376 average and 12 home runs. Tennessee Wesleyan ranks third in home runs per game with 1.5 long balls a contest. The Bulldog pitching staff has a 3.84 ERA this season with Daniel Tolano posting a team-high 1.90 ERA and is 7-0 with a save this season.
Earlier this season, Campbellsville took two games in three-game set at Tennessee Wesleyan. Last year, the Tigers swept Brescia in a three-game season series outscoring the Bearcats, 20-4.
First pitch on Tuesday between Campbellsville and Brescia in Owensboro, Ky., is set for 6 p.m. ET, while the Tigers return home at 4 p.m. ET on Wednesday to host Tennessee Wesleyan at HIG Field.
