No. 4 Lady Tiger softball holds their own destiny as they close out home schedule this week

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. — After a six-game road swing, No. 4 Lady Tiger softball is returning to Veterans Memorial Park this week for a six-game home stand.

Campbellsville (34-5) is hosting rival Georgetown College (24-11) on Wednesday afternoon, April 18, with a doubleheader starting at 2 p.m. ET. Both games will air on the Campbellsville University Sports Network.

In addition, Campbellsville University is re-dedicating the softball park to honor the Hord family. The ribbon cutting ceremony will be hosted between games, as CU plans to rename the field Hord Family Softball Complex at Veterans Memorial Park. Campbellsville is looking to finish regular strong:
The Lady Tigers had won nine straight games and 22 of 23 before falling to Kentucky Christian in the series finale this past weekend. But even with the loss, CU holds a five-game lead over Lindsey Wilson College in the Mid-South Conference standings.

In the five losses this season, the Lady Tigers have scored a combined five runs, but in the wins, CU is averaging seven runs per game – which ranks first in the Mid-South.

Five Lady Tigers are really starting to find their groove at the plate and it all has come from the top of the order. Lead off Jacqueline Roof has improved her average from low .300s to .373 in the past few weeks. Since conference play started on March 23-24 vs. UPIKE, Roof is hitting .441 in the last 18 games with 26 hits – 11 of them for extra bases.

In the two-hole, Rebecca Miller has proven to be the ultimate team player. The senior has upped her average to .305 and leads the team and Mid-South Conference with 20 sacrifice bunts. In addition, Miller has played three different defensive positions this season – third base, catcher and left field.

Tori Humphrey leads CU by hitting .395 overall and is tied with Alexis Smith – the cleanup hitter – with eight home runs. Humphrey is currently on a seven-game hitting streak and has hit safely in 14 of the last 15 games. In addition, she's reached base in 24-straight games and in 35 of the 38 games played this season.

In the four-five holes, the Lady Tigers have received contributions in big ways from two players that were unknowns entering the season. Smith, a sophomore from Louisville, played in 46 games and hit .333 as a freshman. Ky. She now leads the team in RBI with 43 and is hitting .356 in conference play. Ryley Whitney, a freshman catcher, has been on a tear of late by hitting .421 in conference play. In the last 13 games, Whitney has hit safely in 12. In the last 13 games, she's 21-of-48 (.437) with nine doubles and 15 RBI.

Neely Perfect:
Neely Quint has started her senior campaign with a perfect 22-0 record. On the season, Quint ranks No. 1 in the country with her 22 wins and eighth with a 0.68 walks allowed per game. She also leads the MSC with a 1.40 ERA, second in opponents batting average (.227), first in innings pitched (134.2) and second in hits allowed per game (6.03).

Injury bug is now healthy:
Three weeks ago, Campbellsville was bitten by the injury bug in a big way. Starters Kelly Wheeler and Mia Aldridge both went down with injuries that have put them on the sidelines for the last 10 games.

Wheeler went down with a right-knee injury after making a web-gem play up the middle at second base in the series finale against Cumberland University. Her replacement, Dana Adkins, has been stellar up the middle on the defensive side. She practiced on Monday for the first time in 10 days and is expected to be back in the lineup.

Aldridge, who went down with a right shoulder injury, has been named #ManagerMia the last couple weeks. She was released by team doctors on Tuesday, though, and is questionable for this week. Aldridge, a 2017 All-Conference performer, is hitting .291 this season with four home runs and 18 RBI.

With the injuries, Dana Adkins and Jordan Ison had stepped in nicely. Also, Rebecca Miller moved to left field the previous 10 games and has tracked down line drives like a seasoned pro. If she can go, Aldridge is expected to DP this week and Miller will remain in left but Aldridge and Wheeler are both questionable.

"Magic Number" depends on make-up games:
A crummy spring weather season has put the Magic Number scenarios up the air for Campbellsville – which leads the MSC standings by five wins and 10 games left.

Lindsey Wilson and Georgetown – which are two-three in the standings – only played two of the four games in their series back on March 23-24 due to weather.

Scenario #1 - If Lindsey Wilson and Georgetown make-up their series, the Lady Tigers need to win seven of their final 10 games of the season to clinch.

Scenario #2 – If Lindsey Wilson and Georgetown do not make-up their series, the Lady Tigers only need to win six of their final 10 games of the season.

Scenario #3 – If Lindsey Wilson loses two or more games in their final 10, and Campbellsville wins six games, the Lady Tigers clinch.

In a nutshell, Campbellsville holds its own destiny!

Scouting Georgetown:
Led by Chaselyn Allgeier's .491 batting average, The Tigers enter the week with a 24-11 record and are 4-4 in their last eight.

Allgeier, a three-time All-American, is the catalyst that leads Georgetown. Her .491 average is first in the conference and eighth in the country, while she also ranks 13thin the country in stolen bases with 24. But in the doubleheader on April 10, Allgeier went 2-for-7 and only scored once.

Georgetown feeds off Allgeier and her .537 on-base-percentage. The Tigers only have 13 homers on the season and 65 stolen bases. Compared to Campbellsville, Georgetown uses the small ball while the Lady Tigers are a more well-rounded team with 36 home runs – 81 doubles and 48 sacrifice bunts.

In addition, Georgetown's Kara Howard is hitting .389 and leads the team with five homers and 48 RBI. She went 0-for-5 in the two-game set last week.

In the circle, Hannah Morton is 14-4 overall with a 1.63 ERA. Morton leads the Mid-South Conference with 136 strikeouts and opponents are hitting .172 – also tops in the conference.

Megan Brankamp is the No. 2 for GC, while Howard has also seen time in the circle. Georgetown is also fighting a little injury bug as sophomore Audrey Dodd – who played at McCracken County High School with Campbellsville's Neely Quint, Tori Humphrey and Jacqueline Roof – has been out of the lineup for the last two-plus weeks.
