CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – The Campbellsville baseball team wraps up its four-game homestand against rival Lindsey Wilson College on Friday and Saturday at HIG Field.
The weekend series begins on Friday at 5 p.m. ET, followed by a doubleheader on Saturday starting at 3 p.m. ET.
Last time out, the Tigers saw their four-game winning streak come to an end with a 3-1 loss against No. 23 Tennessee Wesleyan University on Wednesday at HIG Field. The Bulldogs plated three runs in the sixth inning to hedge ahead of Campbellsville and grab the road win.
Entering the weekend series, the Tigers have a record of 28-13 overall and sit at 7-2 in the Mid-South Conference. Campbellsville is currently second in the conference standings behind No. 13 University of the Cumberlands – who is 10-0 in the MSC. With multiple teams missing conference games this season, the tournament seeding and regular-season conference champion will be determined by winning percentage in conference games.
Campbellsville ranks in the top 20 nationally in both opponent batting average and earned run average. The Tigers have an opponent batting average of .228 to rank 10th in the country, while the team ERA of 3.65 ranks 18th in the country.
DJ Wilson ranks seventh in the NAIA with seven saves this season where he also holds an opponent average of .095 without allowing an earned run this season.
Parker Loutensock leads the team with a 2.25 earned run average this year, while sitting at 4-0. In nine starts for Loutensock this year, the Tigers are 7-2 overall.
Tyler Deason is 5-1 this season to lead the way with five wins on the mound, while holding an ERA of 2.72.
Logan Roberts is the two-time defending Mid-South Conference Player of the Week after moving his average up to .378 this season, which leads the team. Roberts also leads the way in home runs (12), RBIs (34) and slugging percentage (.721). Five different Tigers have recorded an average of over .350 at the plate, while posting a team average of .315. After holding a team batting average of .272 a week into the month of March, Campbellsville has moved its batting average up to .315 over the past 22 games coming into the weekend.
Lindsey Wilson holds an even record of 21-21 overall after dropping a 5-4 decision on the road Wednesday at Indiana University Southeast. The contest on Wednesday in New Albany, Indiana started an eight-game road swing for the Blue Raiders to end the regular season. Lindsey Wilson is just behind Campbellsville in the conference standings at 7-4 to sit in third place.
The Blue Raiders have a team batting average of .295, where Steven Calderon is leading the team with a .346 average. Oliver Baez is just behind with a .329 average and leads the team with 30 RBIs and 47 hits. Of the 20 home runs Lindsey Wilson has hit this season, Manny Chavarria has hit a quarter of them this year with a team-leading five.
On the mound for the Blue Raiders, they have compiled a team ERA of 5.44 and have allowed the opposition to hit .301. Ricky Winfield has a record of 5-2 for Lindsey Wilson with a team-best 2.02 ERA. In 62-1/3 innings, he has struck out 55 batters to lead the Blue Raiders.
Last season in Columbia, Ky., Lindsey Wilson took the first two games of the series before the Tigers won game three of the series, 10-6.
