No. 19 Baseball hosts No. 9 Bryan on Tuesday and travels to Union on Wednesday

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – The Campbellsville baseball team is set to continue its run of four games over three day as it hosts ninth-ranked Bryan College at HIG Field on Tuesday at 4 p.m. ET and then travels to Barbourville, Ky., to take on Union College on Wednesday at 4 p.m. ET.

The two games over Tuesday and Wednesday are set to be the Tigers third and fourth games within the past three days after Campbellsville swept Shawnee State University on Monday afternoon.

The Tigers enter the midweek with a record of 20-9 overall and are 3-1 in the Mid-South Conference after picking up two wins over Shawnee State. Campbellsville used extra innings to win game one, 3-2, then used four home runs in game two to post an 8-4 victory in game two. Jalen Horton recorded three hits in game one – including the eventual game-winning RBI single in the 10th inning, while Logan Roberts went 6-for-9 over the doubleheader and hit two home runs in game two to guide the Tigers.

Matthew Valdez has paced the Campbellsville offense with a .381 batting average and now has nine home runs after a leadoff home run in game two. Valdez also leads the way with 40 hits, 28 runs, 21 RBIs and a .714 slugging mark. On defense, the Tigers lead the nation with a .980 fielding percentage.

On the mound, the Tigers have a team ERA of 3.33 to rank 18th in the NAIA, while ranking ninth in the NAIA with a .224 opponent batting average. The backend of the Campbellsville bullpen has kept the Tigers ahead late in games as DJ Wilson has not allowed an earned run this season and is allowing the opposition to hit just .085. Justin Phillips has a 0.77 ERA this year and has allowed just seven hits in 11-2/3 innings of work. Parker Loutensock has notched a team-high 38 innings and 36 strikeouts, while recording a 2.37 ERA to go along with a record of 3-0.

Bryan comes into the contest on Tuesday with a record of 28-7 and is 12-3 in the Appalachian Athletic Conference. However, the Lions dropped their last two games against Milligan College and they are now 3-3 in their last six games. Bryan is hitting .321 on the season and Fernando Garcia leads the way with a .439 batting average and 58 hits. The Lions pitching staff has compiled a team ERA of 3.35 with Brandon Marklund posting an ERA of 0.42 in 21-1/3 innings and six saves.

Union comes into the week with a 12-16 record and faces Hiwassee College on Tuesday. After the Bulldogs lost to Campbellsville last week, they rebounded and took two of three games on the road over St. Andrews University. Over the last 18 games, Union has only picked up five wins. The Bulldogs have a .289 batting average, where Nick Shumaker has posted a .373 average. Union notched a 5.17 ERA on the mound and a .301 opponent batting average.

Last week, Campbellsville picked up a 6-2 victory over Union at HIG Field. Last season, Bryan swept a doubleheader at home against the Tigers, where Campbellsville lost 7-6 and 4-2 in Dayton, Tennessee.

First pitch for the Tigers' matchup against Bryan is set for 4 p.m. ET at HIG Field, while Campbellsville has a 3 p.m. ET start on the road against Union in Barbourville, Ky.
