CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – Campbellsville's baseball team has three games on tap for the midweek as it hosts Midway University on Tuesday at 4 p.m. ET, followed by a doubleheader at University of Rio Grande on Wednesday afternoon at 1:30 p.m. ET.
The Tigers come into the week with a record of 24-10 overall after winning 12 of their last 14 games. Campbellsville won seven games in a row before dropping the series finale to the University of Pikeville, 5-4, last time out. The Tigers have five players hitting over .300 this season, where
Logan Roberts paced Campbellsville last week hitting over .500 in the seven games. After hitting below .300 to start the week, Roberts moved his average to .349 entering this week and now leads the team with 26 RBIs.
Campbellsville also has the best fielding percentage in the nation at .981. On the mound, the Tigers have bolstered a team ERA of 3.59, while allowing the opposition to hit .227 this season. The backend of the Tiger bullpen has guided the pitching staff with
DJ Wilson holding a 2-1 mark on the year, to go along with six saves. Wilson has still not allowed an earned run in 18 innings of work out of the bullpen and
Justin Phillips has surrendered just two earned runs in 18 innings.
In the starting role this season, the Campbellsville pitchers have allowed batters to hit .255 overall and a combined 3.62 ERA, with
Parker Loutensock leading the team with 34 strikeouts, to go along with 3-0 record and a 2.31 ERA as a starter.
Tyler Deason has a team best four wins (4-1) as a starter, while
Nick Johnston has a 1.23 ERA and a 3-0 record in four starts this year.
Midway comes into the week with a record of 18-17 overall and has alternated losses and wins over the last five games. The Eagles split with University of the Cumberlands snapping the Patriots' 26-game winning streak, but Midway lost two of three games to Brescia University at home last week.
The Eagles hit .281 as a team with Kurt Paladino leading the way with a .361 batting average and is second in RBIs (28) and home runs (3). On the mound, Midway has a team ERA of 4.42 where Barrett Croslin has not allowed a run in 7-2/3 innings to record five save for the Eagles.
Rio Grande is 16-22 overall, but dropped its last three games after being swept by Point Park University on the road. The Red Storm are 9-9 in the River States Conference and are tied for fourth in the conference.
As a team, Rio Grande is hitting .278 overall with Dylan Shockley posting a .331 batting average in 38 games this season. He his second on the team with 23 RBIs, trailing only David Rodriguez with 35 and Rodriguez has team best eight home runs. The Red Storm have a team ERA of 4.65 and has allowed opponents to hit .270.
First pitch on Tuesday afternoon from HIG Field is set for 4 p.m. ET against Midway, while the doubleheader at Rio Grande on Thursday begins at 1:30 p.m. ET.
