Sapp and Ratliff finish in 36th at BoatUS Collegiate Bass Fishing National Championship

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. — Tiger bass fishing had two boats finish in the Top 50 at the 2018 BoatUS Collegiate Bass Fishing National Championship on Pickwick Lake.

Mason Sapp and Nick Ratliff caught a limit each day to haul in 26.93 pounds to lead Campbellsville's three-boat field.

The duo was 23^rdafter Day 1's total of 15.55 pounds but fell off the pace just a smidge with 11.88 pounds on Friday afternoon.

Justin Mayfield and Colby Hayes finished in 50^thafter catching eight fish on the weekend and totaling 24.22 pounds. On Day 1, the duo reeled in five fish weighing in at 10.49 pounds but find a few big bass on Friday's second round to jump up the leaderboard. Hayes and Mayfield only caught three fish on the second day but totaled 13.73 pounds.

The last Tiger boat in the field finished in 105^th. Dustin Jones and Dalton Smith struggled in their first national championship by only catching four fish – two each day – and totaling 12.65 pounds.

Bethel University's Carter McNeil and Cole Floyd won the two-day national title with 20-plus pounds each day. The duo reeled in 22.63 pounds on Day 1 to be in front by .03 pounds but then turned right around with the biggest grouping of the weekend in the second round. On Day 2, McNeil and Floyd's five fish weighed in at 25.12.

The big fish stayed in the state of Kentucky, as Murray State's Joe Cardill and Jordan Hartman caught a bass of 7.75 pounds.

The Tigers will now compete in the FLW National Championship next week at Red River in Shreveport, La.
