JUNCTION CITY, Kansas — The opening round of the Bassmaster College Series Classic Bracket went in favor of Campbellsville's
Nick Ratliff as the junior led the field with 12 pounds 13 on Milford Lake.
With the big bag on Tuesday, Ratliff outlasted his bracket opponent Casey Lanier from West Virginia University. Lanier was only able to catch one fish for just under two pounds.
Ratliff will now fish in the semifinal round against top-seeded Garrett Enders from Bethel University. Enders finished round one with the second-highest catch, reeling in 11 pounds and 4 ounces. Enders actually totaled 12 fish in the opening round for 19 pounds 13 ounces, but anglers can only keep their top five fish.
Campbellsville's rookie angler,
Bradley Dunagan, didn't have the best day on the water. The freshman from Monticello reeled in two bass for just under two pounds. Dunagan was able to reel in many species of fish on Tuesday, though. He caught many walleye and a couple crappie in his first round.
In addition to Ratliff and Enders, the second bracket will feature Cody Huff (Bethel) and Nolan Minor (West Virginia). The two winners of tomorrow's bracket round will fish on Thursday for a chance at the Bassmaster Classic in 2019.
The second and third rounds will air from Milford Lake on Bassmaster LIVE starting at 9:30 a.m. ET. This is the first year B.A.S.S. is streaming live coverage of the Classic Bracket from the lake.
