Tigers win seventh-straight opener, as Heath scores twice in 7-1 win over Hornets

Campbellsville begins season 1-0 and travels to Chicago to face St. Xavier on Friday night

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. — Nathan Heath tallied a pair of goals and the Tigers out-shot Harris-Stowe State University, 33-9, enroute to a 7-1 season opening win on Tuesday night. 
 
Heath was one of six Tigers to find the back of the net, while he put CU ahead 1-0 in the 32ndminute off a penalty kick in the box. Just five minutes later, Lucas Batistela gave the Tigers a little cushion at the intermission for his first goal of the season. 
 
Going into the break out-shooting the Hornets, 18-5, the Tigers stepped up their game and dominated the pitch in the final 45 minutes. Scott Brooksbank finished a cross by Tom Edge in the 47thminute, while Rickard Hallin found Haylen West in the 63rdto put CU ahead, 4-0. 
 
Then a flurry of scores capped off the night for both teams. Heath finished with his second goal on a Sergio Cristaldo assist. Just under three minutes later, Nathaniel Fonda put the Tigers ahead 6-0. 
 
But Campbellsville had a breakdown in the defense at the 88:08 mark, as Harris-Stowe's Eric Habonimana ruined the shutout by Campbellsville's Luis Ramirez
 
With 58 seconds remaining, Gustavo Izzo put the Tigers ahead 7-1 with his first-career goal. Brooksbank did a lot of the hard work before Izzo chipped a beautiful shot over goalkeeper John Jacewicz. 
 
Ramirez finished the night with four saves, while Jacewicz had 11 for the Hornets. 
 
With the win, the Tigers have now won seven-straight season openers and being the year 1-0. CU will head to Chicago on Friday night to face St. Xavier University with kickoff at 8 p.m. ET.
