Fayette, Mo. – Central Methodist scored the winning goal at the 83:40 mark of the second half as it defended its home turf on Monday night.
The Eagles of Central Methodist got on the board first at the 11:54 mark of the first half. CMU took four shots in the opening minutes before the Tigers were able to get a shot off. Just under 10 minutes later at the 21:26 mark
Troy Walters knotted the game at 1-1.
The Tigers had a 3-2 advantage in first half corners but the Eagles had the 14-9 advantage in shots. Each team had a pair of yellow cards issued in the first half and the two teams went into the break
tied at 1-1.
Central Methodist tallied the game winning goal in the 84
th minute of the contest by Luc Alvarez. CMU outshot the Tigers 13-2 in the second half. The Eagles also had a 3-0 advantage in second half corner shots.
Owen Stott started his second consecutive contest and finished with nine saves in a full 90:00 minutes played in goal.
The Tigers are back in action on Saturday when they face Indiana Wesleyan at 4 p.m. ET.
