Lawrence's first goal of the year leads Tiger soccer to 1-0 win over Bethel

MISHAWAKA, Ind. — Marc Lawrence scored his first goal of the season in the 49thminute to lead Campbellsville men's soccer past Bethel College on Friday night, 1-0. 
 
Charlie Lambert's corner kick found Lawrence for the goal and Campbellsville was able to hold on late. 
 
The Tigers finished with 12 shots, while six were on goal. Bethel countered with 16 shots and six on goal. 
 
Owen Stott led CU with four saves on the night and evens his record to 2-2. Stott played a vital role tonight as the Pilots multiple opportunities late, but he was there for the saves. In the 70thminute, Bruna Jaeger's shot was stopped then Stott came up big in the 80thas Luca Cardamone's attempt was saved. 
 
The Tigers had opportunities to extend their lead late, but Nathaniel Fonda had two of his attempts saved by Phillip Keller. Fonda had five shots tonight with three on goal, while Nathan Heath had a pair of shots that missed at the end of the first half and Tom Edge had two shots as well. 
 
With the win, the Tigers improve their record to 3-4 overall, while Bethel falls to 6-2-1. Campbellsville now begins Mid-South Conference play next week as CU travels to Lindsey Wilson College on Wednesday, Sept. 26.
