Lady Tigers Fall In Three Sets To No. 18 Georgetown College

Errors do Campbellsville in as CU will enter a break in their conference schedule

GEORGETOWN, Ky. – Campbellsville women's volleyball dropped their match Tuesday night against Georgetown College by a score of 3-0 at the Davis-Reid Alumn Gym. The 18th ranked Tigers won all three sets by five or more points, 25-20, 25-20 and 25-18.

The Lady Tigers had trouble on the attack during the match, hitting .025 for the whole match with 32 kills in 122 attempts and 29 errors. Errors really told the story as CU's 29 attack errors and five service errors almost doubled Georgetown's total during the match.

In the first set, GC jumped out to an early lead but Campbellsville brought the score back to within a point at 9-8 and 10-9 but that's when Georgetown went on a run. The Tigers scored 10 of the next 11 points to take a 20-10 lead. CU did mount a bit of a comeback to get within four points at 24-20 but GC finished off the set to win 25-20.

The second set told a different story as the Lady Tigers held a lead early on that went as high as a four-point lead at 11-7. The set was then tied at six different occasions after that before GC pulled away after taking a 20-19 lead, eventually winning 25-20 again.

In set three it was more of the same from Georgetown and Campbellsville. The Lady Tigers did take another lead early but once GC tied it at 10-10, they went on a 5-1 run and never looked back. The closest CU came to the Tigers in the third set was at 18-15 then Georgetown finished off the match scoring seven of the next 10 points.

Campbellsville will take a break from Mid-South Conference play to compete in a tournament at Olivet Nazarene University in Bourbonnais, Ill. as they will play four matches in two days.
