BOURBONNAIS, Ill. – Campbellsville women's volleyball played twice on Friday, falling in both matches, first to host Olivet Nazarene University 3-1 then at night to Grace College 3-0.
The afternoon tilt against the Tigers of ONU started well for CU after winning the first set 25-23 but then they dropped the next three sets, all by a bigger margin, 25-20, 25-18, 25-15. The Lady Tigers struggled on the attack against ONU, hitting .080 with 26 attack errors.
Campbellsville had about an hour break before getting started against Grace College but the Lady Tigers struggled on the attack once again. The first set was another close one as the Lancers edged out a 26-24 first set victory then a pair of nine-point set victories in the second and third at 25-16 in each.
CU earned 36 kills in 129 attempts for a .116 hitting percentage to Grace's 39 kills but GC's real advantage came from blocks and errors as they blocked five more attacks and committed 11 less errors in the match.
The Lady Tigers will look to bounce back Saturday afternoon as they play back-to-back matches, first against Trinity Christian College at 2:00 p.m. ET then against Taylor University at 4:00 p.m. to finish off the Holiday Inn Express Invite.
After this tournament CU will return home to play four-straight matches at the Powell Athletic Center, two Mid-South Conference matches then two matches in the Green River Classic.
