WILMORE, Ky. — Lady Tiger volleyball recorded its lowest hitting percentage of the season and lost its first true road game of the year to Asbury University in four sets.

The Eagles improved to 5-6 overall and the Lady Tigers fell to 8-3 after a 16-25, 25-20, 21-25, 29-31 loss.

The biggest number of the night was the nine service errors, which is also a season-high for Campbellsville. The Lady Tigers entered the night averaging 2.2 aces per set but tonight finished with only three in the four sets played.

Maria Coelho led CU with 13 kills, while Kaite Johnson had 10. The two combined for 23 kills but also totaled 23 errors. Lizzy Rempel led the night with 18 kills for Asbury, while the Eagles hit .137 overall.

In the first set, Asbury ran away with a 25-16 win. The Eagles hit a match-high .206 with 13 kills on 34 attacks, while CU had 10 kills and 10 errors on 36 attempts.

In the second set, Asbury led by as many as four points, 13-9, but Campbellsville went on an 8-2 run and led by 17-15. After trailing 13-9, CU ended the set by doubling up the Eagles and went on a 16-7 run. Paige Merrick, who led CU with 39 assists, finished with one of her four kills to close out the second frame.

The third and fourth sets went down to the end. Campbellsville started the third frame on a 13-4 run but Asbury rallied. The Eagles answered with a 14-5 run to knot the set at 18-all. The Lady Tigers went on to lead once against by three, 21-18, but the Eagles finished the set on a 7-0 run to go ahead, 2-1.

The final frame went to extra points. Asbury led 8-3 early and Campbellsville rallied with a 10-5 run. The Lady Tigers ended up going ahead 18-15 and later 22-18 but it was the Eagles coming right back with a 5-1 run to knot the set at 23-all.

In the final 15 points, there were multiple ties and lead changes until Johnson and Yelysaveta Sharkova fell victim to a pair of attacking errors handing the Eagles the match.

Asbury had 22 block assists on the night as well and Laura Bird led the Eagles with 41 assists. Mari-Grace Alexander and Bethany Fye also had double-figure kills for the Eagles with 13 and 10, respectively.
