CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – No. 5 CU women's wrestling earned a victory over Emmanuel College Thursday night at the CU wrestling facility by a 33-13 score.
Campbellsville was finally able to gain an edge over Emmanuel after having faced off two times earlier this season with the Lions taking home victories each time.
The Lady Tigers earned four pins in the dual with
McKayla Campbell (109 lbs.),
Koral Sugiyama (123 lbs.),
Andribeth Rivera (136 lbs.) and
Alexandra Castillo (191) each able to earn five points for CU on the night.
The meet had no match determined by a decision as each match ended in a tech fall, pin or forfeit with CU earning two tech falls and a forfeit to go along with their four pins.
Mia Rodriguez earned the forfeit victory at the 116 lbs. weight class with
Alexia Foca at 155 lbs. and
Kenya Sloan at 170 lbs. each earning 10-0 tech fall victories.
The Lions earned the points with an early 10-0 tech fall at 101 lbs. as Angelina Gomez defeated CU's
Katelin Barnett, a pin at 130 lbs. from Abigail Nette and another tech fall, this time at 143 lbs. by Hannah Gladden.
The Lady Tigers will wrestle at home next week as they host No. 7 University of the Cumberlands next Wednesday at 6 p.m. ET.
