Battle of Highway 55 hits the hardwood between a pair of Top 25 opponents

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. — A pair of undefeated Mid-South Conference rivals meet on the hardwood Saturday afternoon in the Battle of Highway 55 between Campbellsville and Lindsey Wilson. 
 
The Lady Tigers and Blue Raiders tipoff at 2 p.m. ET in the Powell Athletic Center. Coverage on the CU Sports Network begins at 1:45 with Matt Payton. Links can be found above. 
 
Campbellsville and Lindsey Wilson both took down Georgetown and Cumberland University in their first two conference games of the 2019 calendar year - but the Lady Tigers won both by a combined 53 points. Lindsey Wilson won both by a combined 36. 
 
Saturday is the 76th meeting between the two foes in program history and Campbellsville University leads the series, 55-20. Head coach Ginger High Colvin is meeting good friend John B. Wethington for the 27th time as the two are the longest tenured coaches in the Mid-South Conference. Coach High Colvin leads the series, 18-8, over her 12-year career. Also, Campbellsville has an 8-2 record while playing Lindsey Wilson in the Powell Athletic Center during the High Colvin era.
 

SERIES FACTS:
  • Campbellsville and Lindsey Wilson are meeting for the 76th time in program history. The Lady Tigers lead the series, 55-20.
  • During the High Colvin era, the Lady Tigers have faced Lindsey Wilson four times in the Mid-South Conference Tournament. The last meeting came in the MSC semifinal in 2018 with CU winning 90-78.
  • Overall, the two have only met six times in the MSC Tournament. Lindsey Wilson's lone win came in 2008, 75-68, in the semifinals.
  • On Jan. 22, 1990, CU shot 73 percent from behind the 3-point line against LWC - this is still a season-game record for CU.
  • Since the 2009-10 season, Campbellsville has won 17 of the 21 games in the series.
  • The Lady Tigers had won 11-straight games in the series from 2009-10 to the 2014-15 season.
  • In the 2014-15 matchup at Biggers, LeeAnn Grider dished out a career-high 16 assists to tie the program record with coach Ginger Colvin.
  • Lindsey Wilson upset CU on Dec. 3, 2016 with an 88-65 win in the Powell Athletic Center. It was the first win for the Blue Raiders at the Powell in 10 games.
COACHING IN 400TH GAME:
  • Head coach Ginger High Colvin is in her 12th season leading Campbellsville and currently sits at No. 12 on the active coaching wins list with 318. 
  • Her winning percentage of .796 matches Freed- Hardeman's Dale Neal - who is tops on the NAIA active wins list with a record of 688-176. 
  • Coach High Colvin has led Campbellsville to
    a pair of NAIA Fab Four appearances, most recently in 2016-17 when the Lady Tigers pulled two upsets in the NAIA Tournament - 73-56 over two-seed Baker University in the second round and 73-70 over No. 1-overall seed Freed-Hardeman. CU fell to eventual national champion Oklahoma City in the semifinal, 87-78. The National Tournament appearance was also the 25th in program history - breaking the NAIA record that currently sits at 26 appearances.
  • In her tenure as head coach, Coach High Colvin has achieved three 30-win seasons and has been to the NAIA National Tournament in all but her first season. 
PASSING IS OUR THING:
  • CU leads the country in assists with 392 and 21.7 dimes per game.
  • Junior Caitlin Hall leads the NAIA with 135 assists on the year and with 7.4 assists per game.
  • She has recorded 10+ assists in five games this season.
SCOUTING LINDSEY WILSON:
  • Lindsey Wilson enters Saturday by winning seven of its last eight games, including conference wins over Cumberland (78-56) and Georgetown (66-52).
  • Head coach John B. Wethington is the longest tenured coach in the Mid-South Conference and ranks third with 596 career wins in the NAIA.
  • Sophomore Reagan Turner is the younger sister of former Lady Tiger Lauren Turner and leads Lindsey Wilson in scoring at 17.5 points/game.
  • Sharp shooter Heidi Huffman hit 11 3-point baskets vs. Simmons College on Dec. 3 - which are the most 3s in a game this year.
  • Gerda Paulauskaite also has the individual- high for rebounds in a game with 17 vs. Martin Methodist.
  • The 17.5 points per game also leads the MSC.
  • LWC is second, behind Campbellsville in the MSC, by allowing only 59 points per game. The Blue Raiders also leads the MSC by averaging almost four blocks per game.
