Lady Tigers roll past Gannon University in late Friday night dual at NWCA

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A quick turnaround turned into a dominating win over Gannon University in the consolation bracket of the NWCA National Duals, 42-0.

The Lady Tigers lost a heartbreaker to Emmanuel College after roaring back from being down eight points with two matches to go. But the loss moved them into the consolations against Gannon where CU earned five forfeits, three tech falls and a pin.

With the win, the Lady Tigers improve their dual record to 6-3 on the year and will now face No. 3 Southern Oregon on Saturday at 11 a.m. ET at the Kentucky Expo Center.

Katelin Barnett (101), McKayla Campbell (109), Mia Rodriguez (116) and Elena Hughes (123), and Alexandra Castillo (191) all earned forfeit victories.

Andribeth Rivera continued her solid tournament with a pin over Gabrielle Perez in 1:24 before Sophia Carson earned a 10-0 tech fall over Paige Cook at 136 lbs.

Also, Alexis Foca and Kenya Sloan earned a pair of 10-0 tech falls at 155 and 170 lbs., respectively.

The best Campbellsville can finish now is fifth place. The Lady Tigers will have to go through Southern Oregon in the bottom of the bracket before facing either University of the Cumberlands, Missouri Valley or Life University in the fifth place match.
