MARIETTA, Ga. – Less than 24 hours after dropping a tough five-set match, the Campbellsville University women's volleyball team was edged out once again in the maximum length of five set as Life University took the 3-2 win.
The Lady Tigers took the opening set but were forced to win the fourth set to continue the match into the fifth as the set scores were 19-25, 25-18, 25-22, 23-25, and 15-11.
The match was relatively even from a statistical standpoint outside of Life finishing the match with eight more aces than CU with the match finishing at a 10-2 advantage for Life. The Running Eagles had three more kills but eight more errors on the attack for Campbellsville to own an advantage in hitting percentage finishing at .119 as a team and LU ending up at .094.
Individually, each team's leading attacker finished with 19 kills as
Sonia Flendrich slamming down a career-high 19 kills and Life's Lena Pucnik led her team as one of four attackers in double digits.
The only other Lady Tiger in double digits was
Sutton Mason who finished with 10 kills on 29 attacks for a .207 hitting percentage. Flendrich did finish with her second-straight double-double adding 14 digs and
Paige Merrick did so as well with 40 assists and 17 digs in the match.
The Lady Tigers will be back home next Tuesday when they host Cumberland University at Gosser Gymnasium at 7 p.m. ET.
