CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – One of Campbellsville University's new programs, Esports, picked up a win in the title of Rocket League with a 3-0 win over the University of South Carolina Sumter on Monday night.
The Tigers swept the best-of-five match with game scores of 6-3, 5-0, 7-4 to take each game pretty comfortably. It is their first win in National Association of College Esports (NACE) competition after starting Rocket League play last week.
CU's player of the match was
Charlie Winnett, who scored 11 of the 18 total goals in the match while adding three assists and four saves to win MVP of each match. Winnett scored three goals in the opening game with a pair of four goal games in the next two.
He was teamed with
Joshua Lockard and
Nathanual Sampson with Sampson second on the team with five goals in the match and led the team with six assists. Lockard scored the other two goals while adding an assist and two saves with his two goals coming on his only shots in the match.
Campbellsville will continue NACE Rocket League play on Thursday at the Esports Arena around 8 p.m. ET.
