PIKEVILLE, Ky. – On Wednesday the Tigers traveled to the University of Pikeville for an afternoon tilt to open the conference portion of their schedule.
Six different Tigers were able to get into the scoring column as Campbellsville used a 20-3 shot advantage to record a 6-0 victory.
Coming off the heels of a tie with Oakland City, the Tiger offense was fired up from kickoff, as they were able to record four goals in the first half, their second most in the first period this season.
Marc Lawrence started the scoring as he used a pass from
Kalvin Semedo to get CU out to a 1-0 advantage only 2:06 into the match.
Ten minutes later the Azad Illiozer followed with his own goal to extend the Campbellsville lead.
The next Tiger goal came off a rebounded shot, set up by
Tom Edge. As Edge fired a shot on target, Anibal Navarro, the Pikeville keeper, was able to record the save. However,
Connor Pugh was able to clean up as he put a shot into the back of the net, recording his first goal as a Tiger.
The final goal of the period came by the way of
Haylen West as he was able to capitalize on a pass from
Gustav Oskarsson to extend the Campbellsville lead to 4-0.
As the Tigers controlled play for a majority of the half, as play began to close in the 42
ndminute of the period, the Bears were able to record their first shot, forcing
Owen Stott to make his only save of the match.
Campbellsville's first half of play proved to be an extremely efficient one as they used only eight shots to record four goals.
Exiting the half time break, play picked up in physical fashion as the Tigers recording four fouls and a yellow card within the first ten minutes of the second period.
This hardly slowed down the Tigers however, as
Gustavo Izzo picked up a goal in the 56
thminute, off of a feed from
Pedro Ramos.
The last Campbellsville goal came by the way of
Eleder Goikoetxea when he picked up a 67
thminute goal to bring the Tiger lead to 6-0.
Overall, the Tigers were able to place 14 shots on target, compared to one from the Bears. This also enabled Campbellsville to record their sixth shutout in eight games played.
The Tigers will return to action on Saturday, Oct. 5
thas they host Shawnee State at 2:00 p.m. ET.
