Tigers close out their regular season with senior day against Cumberland University

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – On Saturday, the Tigers will honor its senior class as they host the Phoenix of Cumberland University to close their 2019 regular season at 4 p.m. ET.
 
The match will be broadcasted live on the CU Sports Network starting at 3:45 p.m. ET as Zach Clements will be on the call. Fans can watch online at CampbellsvilleTigers.com/watch or stream the game on the Roku and Apple TV apps on their televisions.
 
SENIOR DAY
  • The Tigers will honor their seniors four on Saturday prior to kickoff.
  • The honorees include Antonio Barona Bonet, Marc Lawrence, Gustavo Izzo, and Haylen West.
  • Bonet and West are both in their third season at CU, while Lawrence and Izzo transferred in their junior years.
  • In his career, Bonet has recorded six saves with a 1-1 record in eight games played.
  • Since 2017, West has played in 50 games for CU where he has recorded ten career goals including a hat trick against Boyce College earlier this season.
  • Lawrence has been a staple in his tenure with the Tigers has he has tallied ten goals in 29 games.
  • Izzo has been selected to the Academic All-MSC team in his junior season. In his career he has record eight goals on 22 shots in 21 games played.
 
LAST TIME OUT
  • Wednesday evening, the Tigers hosted the Blue Raiders where they fell after an 88thminute goal from Akean Shackleford.
  • After surrendering an early goal, falling to a 1-0 deposit, the Tigers fought back with a 58thminute goal from Marc Lawrence.
  • Shackleford's goal came with 2:03 remaining in regulation to give a 2-1 victory to LWC.
 
SCOUTING THE PHOENIX
  • Cumberland University enters Saturday with an 8-7 overall record and 3-4 in the conference.
  • The Phoenix lost their last match 3-2 to Life University.
  • Tyler Watson has recorded nine goals for the Phoenix to lead the Cumberland University attack.
 
HISTORY VERSUS CUMBERLAND UNIVERSITY
  • Since 2007, the Tigers have played the Phoenix 15 times and hold a record of 8-5-2.
  • Campbellsville has lost the last two meetings against Cumberland University 4-0 and 2-0, but have a 5-3-1 record in their last nine games.
  • In last season's meeting in Lebanon, Tenn., Cumberland recorded two goals in each have to take the match.
 
MID-SOUTH CONFERENCE STANDINGS
  • Campbellsville is currently tied with the University of the Cumberlands for third place in the MSC standings with a 4-3 record.
  • Cumberland University holds a 3-4 to sit sixth in the standings.
  • If Campbellsville loses to the Phoenix, they will fall to 4-4 and will drop fifth in their MSC seeding. 
  • If the Tigers win the match, they will either hold the third or fourth spot in the seeding, depending on the result of the University of the Cumberlands and Shawnee State.
  • Given the Patriots win this meeting, the Tigers will hold the fourth seed as they do not hold the tiebreaker against the University of the Cumberlands.
  • Life will hold the one seed in the tournament as they boast a 7-0 MSC record but need to win their next match to be crowned the outright MSC regular season champions.
 
As this closes the regular season for Campbellsville, their next match will take place in the quarterfinals of the Mid-South Conference tournament on November 5 in Bowling Green, Ky.
