Tigers bounce back with strong shooting effort led by Davis' five triples

PIPPAS PASSES, Ky. – The Tigers took to the road for the first time in their 2019 campaign as they overtook Alice Lloyd 88-60.

The Tigers jumped out to a quick 8-0 run on back-to-back three-point baskets from Jacob King and Alston Davis, as well as a bucket from Justin Tucker

Alice Lloyd was then able to get on the board, but CU continued their hot shooting as Davis tallied another three and Tucker and David Simmons pick up baskets, putting the Tigers up 15-6.

The Eagles, however, went on a run of their own as they clawed the game back to 17 all. Nonetheless, the Tigers rebounded and went up 25-17 and did not look back.

Noah Young of ALC tried to work the Eagles back in the half, as he recorded 10 of the Eagles first 21 points. However, 58% shooting from the Tigers helped them extend a 43-29 lead into the break.

Through the first half of play, juniors David and Tucker led the way in the scoring column for CU. Davis was able to record 12 points on four three pointers, while Tucker had 11 points of his own in the half.

The second half proved to be much of the same, as CU came out firing again as they went out to a 16-5 run to start the second half of play.

After four three-point baskets in the first half, Davis came out in the second to hit his fifth Edwards Jones triple to notch a game high 15 points.

Following the Tiger run that put CU up 59-32, the CU starters headed to the bench, but that did not slow Campbellsville.

Off the bench, Singleton was able to tally 10 while Mitchell, and Weining were able to notch eight points as Campbellsville looked to extend their lead to up to 35 points.

After struggling the second half of play in the previous two games, the Tigers were able to outscore Alice Lloyd in the second half 45-31.

Offensively, the Tigers were able to shoot 50% from deep, hitting 12 triples in the game. Davis, along with Tucker were able to total 15 points to lead CU. Tucker also added a career high seven rebounds to his total.

On the defensive side, CU held the Eagles to 60 points, after they had a 90 point per game scoring average entering the night.

Campbellsville will be back in action on Friday, Nov. 15th as they will travel to the Lindsey Wilson Classic to play Oakwood University at 3 p.m. ET.
