CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – It wasn't the cleanest game for the Campbellsville University men's basketball team earned their second win of the season by a final score of 72-57 over Lindenwood University-Belleville Saturday afternoon in the Powell Athletic Center.
The Tigers largest lead of the game came by a 22-point margin around the 4:47 at 66-44 but were outscored 13-4 for the remainder of the game as both teams went scoreless for the last two minutes of the game.
CU was led in scoring by their back court of
Jacob King and
Taiveyhon Mason as King finished with a team-high 12 points and Mason backed him up with 10 points, five rebounds and four assists. Overall the Tigers spread the ball around relatively well throughout the game with all players except for one who saw time put a ball in the basket for at least a point.
For the Lynx of Lindenwood-Belleville was led by Christian McCoy who had his second-straight double-double to start the season finishing with 15 points and 10 rebounds while also being two assists away from a triple double with eight helpers.
The depth of the front court of the Tigers was truly tested in the first half as both starting center
Lenorris Mincey and back-up
Justin Tucker got into early foul trouble. As
De'Undra Singleton entered in the first half to spell the two CU players in foul trouble he suffered a slight injury but was able to return later in the half to play for the remainder of the game. Those three big men combined for 18 points and nine rebounds for the Tigers on the game.
Looking ahead the Tigers will remain home to host the Mid-South Conference/Southern States Challenge as they will play Friday against Dalton State College then on Saturday against Stillman College.
