LEBANON, Tenn. – In the second meeting within 20 days between the Campbellsville University women's basketball team and Brescia University, the Lady Tigers gave the Bearcats all they could handle for 40 minutes to come away with a 95-56 victory.
Friday evening's matchup was the first game of the Rosa Stokes Classic in Lebanon, Tenn., hosted by Cumberland University as CU built their lead as the game went to hold a 43-22 lead at halftime as opposed to just a one-point halftime lead in their first meeting.
The Lady Tigers had three players with double figure points led by 17 from
Savannah Gregory as she scored 11 of her 17 in the second half. She finished shooting 7-for-9 from the field and added four steals as CU finished with 20 steals as a team.
Campbellsville also had a double-double from
Madison Faulkner as she finished with 14 points and 11 rebounds. Faulkner has been the only Lady Tiger to score in double figures through seven games on the 2019-20 season.
For the second-straight game,
Sammy Rogers gave CU double figures off the bench as she added 13 points on 5-of-6 shooting with two assists, two steals, two rebounds, and a blocked shot in the game.
Once again, turnovers played a big part in the win for Campbellsville as they forced the Bearcats to give the ball away 34 times compared to just 13 from the Lady Tigers. CU was outrebounded in the game 39-30, marking the second-straight game that Campbellsville lost the board battle.
In the game, 12 of the 14 Lady Tigers that saw the floor on Friday recorded a basket from the field with the other two not taking a shot in the game to be able to make. CU was also strong passing the ball with 21 assists in the contest led by the usual suspect of
Caitlin Hall, who dished out eight dimes along with her four points in the game.
Campbellsville will prep for a Saturday afternoon matchup with Voorhees College back in the Dallas Floyd Phoenix Arena as CU looks to move to 8-0 heading into their first home game of 2019-20 next Tuesday. Voorhees played the second game of Friday night against host Cumberland University and came into the classic with a 4-6 record.
