CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – Facing the same opponent for the second-straight game, the Campbellsville University women's basketball team moved to 14-0 after earning their second win in a row against Fisk University by a final score of 98-57 at the Powell Athletic Center.
Much like their meeting five nights ago, CU used a big third quarter to pull away from the Bulldogs as they outscored Fisk 33-8 in the period to enter the fourth quarter up 83-45. The Lady Tigers had a 16-0 run in the middle of the quarter to push their lead from 50-37 at halftime to 73-39 with just under four minutes left in the third quarter.
Campbellsville was on milestone watch at the outset of the game as
Caitlin Hall didn't wait very long to become the sixth member of the 500-assist club in Lady Tiger basketball history. She assisted on the first CU basket of the game from
Savannah Gregory as she joins her head coach
Ginger High Colvin,
Shannon Wathen, LeeAnn Grider, Rosanne Conlan, and Katie Allen as the only players with 500 career assists.
The Lady Tigers were led by
Lexy Lake's 17 points as she went 5-for-10 in three-pointers while adding three rebounds and an assist. Lake passed the 100 made three-pointers mark in the second quarter as she continues her sharp outside shooting for CU in 2019-20.
CU also had four other in double figures as
Madison Faulkner continues her double-figure scoring streak to start the season after her 16 points,
Sammy Rogers added 15 along with 12 points apiece from both
Savannah Gregory and
Shelby Harmeyer.
Harmeyer's 12 points came in her first game back from injuring her foot three weeks ago at the end of the Lady Tigers' game against Brescia on Nov. 22. The redshirt freshman went 5-of-7 from the field and 2-for-4 from deep while grabbing two rebounds, an assist and a steal.
Fisk had a better offensive output than their 48-point effort this past Monday as they limited their turnovers on Saturday with only 19 after committing 36 turnovers on Monday in Nashville. Conversely, Campbellsville struggled in the ball security department with 21 turnovers, just one away from a season high but were still able to record more assists (22) than turnovers for the 10
th time this season.
The Lady Tigers will have one more game remaining in the 2019 calendar year as they will host Martin Methodist College at the Powell Athletic Center on Thursday, Dec. 19. It will be the second time CU faces the Redhawks as Campbellsville earned their 1,000
th win as a program earlier this year against MMC.
